Belgian-stye ales often bear remarkable similarities with their Belgian counterparts and are simply ales brewed outside of Belgium using similar ingredients, yeasts, and processes as traditional Belgian Ales. Specialty Beers are a wider category including Belgian-inspired beers that might include spice, fruit, or other non-traditional adjunts. These ales are often crafted as holiday beers or seasonal offerings from the brewery.

VICTORY GOLDEN MONKEY- TRIPEL 9.5% (PENNSYLVANIA) 12oz $5
Pours a hazy golden brown- just a shade or two darkr than most tripels. Delicate aromas of pears, apples, spice and hops announce this complex brew. Each sip unveils another flavor as the beer warms. Heavy yeasty spices, hops, and alcohol warmth stay in the forefront while many other tasty flavors peek through from time to time.

UNIBROUE DON DE DIEU – BELGIAN-STYLE STRONG PALE ALE 9% (CANADA) 12oz $5.50
Imagine the taste of fresh-baked bread dipped in honey with spice, citrus zest and apple wedges, and you’ll have a pretty good picture of Don De Dieu. The sweet maltiness blends well with the spicy and tart fruit flavors to form a wonderfully complex and tasty beer that’s dark yellow-gold in color with a foamy white head. The finish is sweet and malty with a slight alcohol warmth.

Translated as “The End of the World,” this is Unibroue’s flagship beer and has set the pace for many amazing releases over the years. Bold yet refined, this flavorful, full-bodied ale is full of fruity esters, spicy overtones and some woody notes. PRANQSTER (NORTH COAST) – BELGIAN-STYLE STRONG GOLDEN ALE 7.6% (CALIFORNIA)  12oz     $6
Deep golden-orange in color. Pranqster is a big, rich Belgian Strong that brings with it the aromas and flavors of wheat, pear, coriander and lemon. It has a creamy, full mouth-feel with a delicious aftertaste of malt and spice, finishing with a moderate hop bitterness.

BROTHER THELONIUS -AMERICAN DUBBEL 9% (CALIFORNIA) 12oz      $6.5
Brother Thelonious is a deep amber-brown American Dubbel with a medium white head. It is intensely malty with the slight bitterness of figs and dates. The hops linger in the finish with a mild residual sweetness. This is an excellent example of a medium-bodied American Dubbel.

OMMEGANG THREE PHILOSOPHERS – DARK FRUIT BEER 9.8% (NEW YORK) 12oz $7
Three Philosophers is a brilliant blended beer that includes Lindeman’s Kreik (cherry lambic) and Ommegang’s highest-quality ingredients. The resulting brew is a deep mahogany red with aromas of cherries and dark malts. The ensuing flavor is complex, deep and rounded, moving from rich, roasted bitter flavors to the sweet-and-sour cherry flavors, finishing strong but not bitter.

DUCHESSE DE BOURGOGNE – FLANDERS RED ALE 6.2%  (BELGIUM) 11.2oz $7
Dark crimson color- nearly that of cranberries. Aromas are of tart cherries, port wine, aged vinegar, and brown sugar maltiness. The flavors are rich and viniferous, redolent of a great Pino Noir with Belgian wild yeast flavors. This beer is sweet throughout with the cherry tartness punching through at the end and dissipating to make for a truly memorable beer.

BRASSERIE DIEU DU CIEL DERNIERE VOLONTE – BEGIAN PALE ALE 6.5% (CANADA) 12oz $7
Pours a clear gold with a white head. The nose is a soft blend of tropical fruits, hops, and pappery spice. Flavors are citrus, pear, apricot, and green apple with spicy yeast tones and moderate bittering hops towards the end. Finiahes medium to dry with lingering malt and hops.

BRASSERIE DIEU DU CIEL ROUTE DES EPICES – SPICED RYE BEER 5% (CANADA) 12oz $7
A completely unique offering from Dieu Du Ciel. Deep red color with pepper, black currants, and eqarthy spiciness on the nose. The peppery flavors carry over into the body and are accomomopanied by other spices like anise and clove. Complex big flavors that manage to not overpower.

BFM CUVEE ALEX LE ROUGE – IMPERIAL STOUT 10.28% (SWITZERLAND) 11.2oz $9
Pours black as midnight. Solid malt backbone with distinct pepper notes coming through along with green tea and hints of tobacco. Roasted and biscuit malts intermingle with cocoa and touches of coffee. Medium bodied and full of adventuresome flavor.

LA GOUDALE – BIERE DE GARDE 7.2% (FRANCE) 750ml $9
Pours light amber orange with a fluffy white head. Aromas are citric yeast, mandarin orange, green apple, mellons, and pear. Flavor is packed with delicatee fruits and honey. Caramel malts balance out green apple yeast acidity to round out this very nice and aproachable Biere De Garde.

SAINT LANDELIN LA DIVINE – BIERE DE GARDE 8% (FRANCE) 750ml $9
Brilliant clear gold color with fluffy white head. Nose is lemons, pepper, and musty wild yeast. Flavors are sweet malts with lemon tartness. The oak aging comes through as the beer warms and presents as a soft vanilla spiciness. Very light and complex and super drinkable.

AVERY SALVATION – BELGIAN-STYLE STRONG GOLDEN ALE 9%  (COLORADO) 22oz $12
Salvation weighs in as one of the biggest lighter beers on the market. It has a full range of fruit and spice flavors with noticeable hints of apricot, peach and nutmeg. All of this is showcased nicely in a lightly hopped beer with a medium grain profile that subtly peeks through.

VICTORY V-SAISON – SAISON/FARMHOUSE ALE 7.5% (PENNSYLVANIA) 750ml $12
The brewers at Victory use the yeast from the classic Saison Dupont in the production of this American Saison, and have come up with a beer that gives a nod to tradition while maintaining its own unique personality. The fragrance is herbal and earthy, and the taste is spicy and citrusy with clear evidence of the Dupont yeast. The finish is crisp and refreshing, making this a perfect summer ale.

Very nice aromas of honey, hay, and Flemish yeast. Flavors are clean and crisp with notes of clover honey, pear, light candy sugar, apple, and melons. Very light, refreshing, and complex.

UNIBROUE 17 – BELGIAN STRONG DARK ALE 10% (CANADA) 750ml $14
Deep crimson color. Aromas are vanilla oak, nutmeg, pepper, and mellons. Flavors are a bold blend of black cherries, melons, smoky oak, black pepper, nutmeg, and dark malt goodnesss. Smooth and silky on the tongue and packed with delicate complexity. Finish is long with spicy hops.

BROOKLYN LOCAL 1 – BELGIAN STYLE STRONG PALE ALE 9% (NEW YORK) 750ml $18
Brewed with German malts and hops, first-pressing Demerara cane sugar from Mauritius, and a Belgian yeast strain. 100% bottle re-fermentation. This super tasty treat is classified as a “strong saison” by Brooklyn’s brewmaster Garrett Oliver.

NORREBRO BRYGHUS OLD ODENSE – HERBED/SPICED BEER 7.50% (DENMARK) 600ml $18
Brewed in collaboration with Dogfish Head’s Sam Calagione. Hazy copper color with a tall off-white head. Aromas are an eniticing blend of tart fruits, raspberries, and green tea. Flavors have a gueuze or Lambic kind of rich sourness that is balanced out with sweet toasted malts. Herbs and spices blend with strawberry notes and finishes with a very satisfing tartness.

SAINT SOMEWHERE LECTIO DIVINA – BELGIAN STRONG PALE ALE 8% (FLORIDA) 750ml $18
Pours a hazy butterscotch color. Big fruit and spice aromas that range from peach to banana to clove. The body is a fruity malty balance that comes across as an herbal tartness at times as well as big tropical and dark fruits. Outstanding from start to finish.

SAINT SOMEWHERE SAISON ATHENE – SAISON 7.5% (FLORIDA) 750ml $18
Cloudy golden color with a fluffy white head. Aromas are soft earthy spices like cammomile and rosemary with lemon and pepper tones. Flavors are sweet malts with hints of wild honey, citrus, pepper, and herbal hops. The beer continus to open up new flavors and aromas as it warms. Very well crafted.

UNIBROUE QUATRE-CENTIEME BRASSIN COMMEMORATIF – BELGIAN STRONG GOLDEN ALE 7.5% (CANADA) 750ml $18
Pale golden color with a billowing white head. Aromas of green apples, cloves, fresh lemons, bananas, oranges, and corriander. Flavors are an abrosia of fruity esters – apple juice, melons, bananas, yeasty spice, and cloves. Complex, yet light and refreshing.

BEBA MOLTO MALTO – BELGIAN PALE PALE 7% (ITALY) 16.9oz $19
Hazy amber color with tan head. Mellow malts prop up a very nice citrus orange flavor. Earthy and herbal hops round out this easy drinking and interresting Belgian-style pale ale.

BIRRA DEL BORGO GENZIANA – HERBED/SPICED BEER 6.2% (ITALY) 750ml $20
Pours golden yellow with a white head. The nose is full of citrus and berries with yeasty notes and light sourness. Taste is herbal and sweet with a boquet of flavors from lavender, to violets, to citrus and berries. Refreshing, complex, and light earthy notes make this a wonderfully drinkable treat.

ALLAGASH CURIEUX – BOURBON BARREL-AGED TRIPEL 11% (MAINE) 750ml $22
Curieux is Allagash’s Tripel that has been aged in Jim Beam barrels. The aromas are oak, vanilla, and whiskey offering one of the most amazing smelling beers you will find. The flavors definitely strongly resemble the sweet malty oak flavors found in a good whiskey. Underneath the bold flavors is the nice subtle complexity of figs, apricots, and fresh fruits. A wonderfully unique beer.

ALLAGASH HUGH MALONE ALE – BELGIAN IPA 8.5% (MAINE) 750ml $22
Deep orange color with an off-white head. Aromas are Belgian yeast, citrus, and green apples. Flavors are backed by a nice malty profile with light sourness. Citrusy grapefruit flavors mix with candy sugar and a touch of oakiness and finishes with pine hops.

ALLAGASH INTERLUDE – BELGIAN STRONG PALE ALE 9.5% (MAINE) 750ml $22
Interlude is initially fermented with farmhouse yeast and then undergoes a secondary fermentation with Brettanomyces. After that it is aged in French Merlot and Sirah Barrels where it picks up additional woody and viniferous qualities. One of the finest offerings from Allagash.

ALLAGASH ODYSSEY – BELGIAN DARK STRONG ALE 10% (MAINE) 750ml $22
Mahogany brown color with a large off-white head. Aromas are fruity malts with chocolate, oaky vanilla, and whiffs of anise. Flavors are a complex blend of chocolate and dates with notes of carob and root beer. Finishes with long lingering dark fruits and earthy oak. A very special creation from Allagash.

DOGFISH HEAD THEOBROMA – CHILE BEER 9% (DELAWARE) 750ml $22
Theobroma, or “food of the gods,” is brewed with Aztec cocoa powder and cocoa nibs from Askinosie Chocolate, honey, ancho chilies, and annatto. The recipe is based on chemical analysis of pottery fragments found in Honduras, which scientists claim is the earliest known alcoholic chocolate drink.

BFM ABBAYE DE SAINT BON-CHIEN – BIERE DE GARDE 12.5% (SWITZERLAND) 25.4oz $30
The nose is of dark fruits and viniferous goodness. Flavors are hugely complex malts with bursts of dark and tropical fruits mingled with caramelized sugars, tobacco, light smokiness, plums, and figs. Finish is slightly tart with wafts of vanilla and invited you to dive right back in.
