Originating in Southern Germany as a specialty for summer consumption but most are now produced year-round. Produced with 30-50% wheat malt and fermented with Wheat Ale Yeast for a distinctive spicy and fruity notes that are often times are fermented at high temperatures for even bigger fruity phenolics. Categorized by light, smooth, drinkability and fruity, spicy notes that are quite refreshing. Original gravity ranges from 1.044 – 1.052 and hop bitterness ranges from 8-15 IBU’s to deliver only the faintest hop profile for additionjal complexity without bitterness.

Banana golden color with a white head. Aromas of fresh citrus and tropical fruits fold themselves into light wheat maltiness. The taste is spicey with hints of pineapple, citrus, and banana that fade into a light hoppiness. Mild and fresh with a clean crisp finish.

Golden yellow color with a white head. Aromas of bananas, cloves, and hints of bubble gum are repeated in the taste. Franziskaner is widly held as one of the very best Hefe-Weisse beers in the world and certainly does not disappoint on any front. Delicious and refreshing.

Pours hazy golden amber. Aromas are banana, yeast, wheat, and lemon peel. Flavor is banana and light clove with lemon tanginess. Light and refreshing.

UNIBROUE CHAMBLY NOIRE – BELGIAN STYLE DARK WHEAT 6.2% (CANADA) 12oz $5
Dark brown with a tan head. Aromas of plum and red grape with Belgian yeast spicines. The flavor reminds one of a dark witbier- dry with dark fruits, figs, and mild malts.

UNIBROUE BLANCHE DE CHAMBLY – WITBIER 5% (CANADA) 12oz $5.50
Named for the brewery’s hometown (Chambly, Quebec), this delicious Witbier continues the Unibroue tradition of brewing excellence. The beer pours a misty gold with a pure white head, and its citrus spiciness and garden-herb flavors abound with notes of honey and vanilla. This is a refreshing Witbier with a crisp finish and ample carbonation.

McAUSLAN ST. AMBROISE APRICOT WHEAT ALE- 5%  (CANADA) 12oz $6
Pours a golden amber color with a faint white head. The nose is all dried apricots and malt. The wheat rarely makes its presence known as the flavor is dominated by truly authentic apricot flavor and a nice malt backbone. The fruit flavors never overpower the tastebuds yet also remain in front of the beer so that they are not lost. A very well crafted fruit beer indeed.

Hazy brown in color with an almond colored head. Spiciness greets the nose as do bready wheat notes. Flavors are reminicient of banana bread, apples. pears, and nutmeg. As it warms flavors of brown sugar and toasted bread begin to present. Smooth and creamy with a spicy yeast finish.

Pours hazy yellow with a clean white head. Aromas are light citrus and yeasty spiciness. Noble hops peek through from time to time and offer a light pepper complexity. Very light bodied and easy drinking. A crisp and refreshing choice for a hot day.

Pours cloudy lemon yellow with a frothy white head. Very light bodied and delicate but possessing a wonderful intricate complexity. Light citrus on the nose with hints of fresh bread. Lemon and orange notes carry over into each sip. Very approachable and super refreshing.

GRUUT BELGIAN WITBIER 5% (BELGIUM) 16.9oz $9
Tangy citrus and light spiciness on the nose and throughout the body. Light bodied and soft yellow color with a white head. Corriander and camomile notes come through along with mellow wheat and lemon citrus. Very light and refreshing.

SCHNEIDER/BROOKLYN HOPFEN WEISSE – WEIZENBOCK 8.2% (GERMANY) 16.9oz $9
This brew is the result of the long friendship of Brooklyn brewmaster Garrett Oliver and Schneider brewmaster Hans-Peter Drexler. Garrett had always admired the delicate balance of flavors in Schneider Weisse, while Hans-Peter had long enjoyed the effusive hop character of Brooklyn East India Pale Ale and BLAST! Garrett’s concept for the collaboration was that each brewmaster would brew essentially the same pale, hoppy weissbock in the other’s brewery, but with different hopping to reflect the local hop flavor.

Brewed by the famous Weihenstephan Brewery and standing strong as one of the most perfect examples of the Berliner Weisse style. Straw golden color with a creamy head. The nose is a clean orange, banana, and corriander spice with Belgian yeast hints. Flavors are quite similar to the nose with the orange notes coming through prominantly and balancing nicely with malt and corriander and camomile herbal spiciness.

ALLAGASH FLUXUS – WITBIER 8.7% (MAINE) 750ml $18
Fluxus is billed as a wheat beer made with Ginger and spices. The aroma hints to the massive complexity of this beer with esters of corriander, pepper, and tangy lemon. Flavors are huge with prominant notes of pineapple, ginger, spice, and a wonderful malt backbone. Delicious and rewarding.
